September 16th—London

Velvet car

Okay, day off, so I went to the British Museum (lets hear it for Ur of the Chaldees), and the Imperial War Museum (along with the Getty Villa in Los Angeles, one of my favourite places on the planet). On the way home I did the Houses of Parliament/Westminster Abbey thing, outside only. Odd that museums are free but churches are disgustingly expensive.
Felt like a real slob walking back through my ritzy neighbourhood full of beautiful people setting off for an evening out, and me in my sweaty T-shirt clutching my cheap salad from Tesco for supper. Which brings me to the day's highlight and photo, an expensive Audi covered in black velvet. If I had the money to buy a car like that and do that to it, I wouldn't—well, maybe the car!
Back to cultural stuff and the Victoria and Albert tomorrow, but I may sneak into the Natural History Museum next door.
